BOHICA

In my upcoming book, “BIZARRO WORLD, USA” I advocate a Consumption Tax.   As described, this simple tax on purchases would replace the current income tax, the rules of which are so convoluted that they are not even understood by the people in charge of enforcing them.

Well, Obummer and Congress are now enamored with an idea they are calling a Value Added Tax (VAT) to help offset the insane spending that has taken place over the past 6-12 months and the spending that will undoubtedly continue.  What it means to the rest of us is simply Added Tax or AT.

The difference of thought between these two revenue plans is that in my presentation (it is not my proposal, just an elaboration on proposals made by others) the Consumption Tax would replace our current income tax.  Obummer’s VAT is being proposed ‘in addition to’ the current over-taxation of the American people.

Think about it.  You work all week, month and year to earn an income.  Unless you are receiving welfare, the federal government takes between 10% and 35% of your earnings.  If you are single and earn as little as $8,350 you only have to give the federal government 10% or $83.50.  That leaves you just less than $700/month on which to live.  Now, out of that fortune you’re amassing on a monthly basis, you are going to have the opportunity to pay an additional 10%-25% (the actual gouge has not yet been defined) on everything you purchase!  The loaf of bread that was $1.99 yesterday will be $2.19 tomorrow.  The $3,000 used car you’ve been saving for will be at least $3,300.  And if you don’t buy a car, the bus fare will also be a little higher, too.

It doesn’t end there either.  Services will also cost more.  Doctors, lawyers, mechanics, tutors…you name it, will cost 10%-25% more than you pay now.  Registering a domain name or paying for your post office box – you got it, will cost more.

Oh yes, by the way, the VAT will also be on top of any state or local taxes that you pay during the buying privilege .  So let’s say that you earn that minimum income of $8,350 per year, of which you get to keep $700 per month.  When you crawl out of your cardboard home under the bridge in the morning, your rice and bean meal of the day will cost you just a bit more; the bottle of Thunderbird that helps you get through the day also costs more.

But in Obummer’s own words, “If you make less than $250,000 a year, your taxes will not be going up”.  What are the “taxes” he’s talking about?  State and local sales taxes have already gone up across the nation.  Additional taxes have been added to items from soft drinks to car tires.    Do only people earning over $250K buy toner cartridges or gasoline?  Now there will be a tax on the taxes we already pay with the money we have left after paying taxes on the money we’ve earned.

And they wonder why we exercise our right of peaceful assembly at Tea Parties to discuss the insanity of stealing from the productive (and now you don’t even have to be productive, just a purchaser) for use by the Federal Government.  This Congress and this Overlord really believe that all the money is theirs and we are here only to collect it on their behalf.

I offer a snippet from Pravda, the Russian newspaper, titled ‘American Capitalism Gone with a Whimper’: “First, the population was dumbed down through a politicized and substandard education system based on pop culture, rather than the classics. Americans know more about their favorite TV dramas than the drama in DC that directly affects their lives. They care more for their “right” to choke down a McDonalds burger or a Burger King burger than for their constitutional rights. Then they turn around and lecture us about our rights and about our “democracy”. Pride blind the foolish.”

So, send your children to public school if you want them to learn how to best make love to their fellow gym student.  But, if you want them to learn about history, geography, government, math or English be prepared to teach them yourself or hire someone to do it.
