RICHMOND, Calif.—California officials are outfitting preschoolers in Contra Costa County with tracking devices they say will save staff time and money.

The system was introduced Tuesday.  When at the school, students will wear a jersey that has a small radio frequency tag.  The tag will send signals to sensors that help track children’s whereabouts, attendance and even whether they’ve eaten or not.

School officials say it will free up teachers and administrators who previously had to note on paper files when a child was absent or had eaten.

Sung Kim of the county’s employment and human services department said the system could save thousands of hours of staff time and pay for itself within a year.

It cost $50,000 and was paid by a federal grant.

There is so much wrong with this short article that my head is spinning and my ears spewing blood.  Questions abound.

Okay, so the tracking devices will save the school thousands of hours of staff time.  Why does the staff have to monitor when a child eats?  Why is it costing the staff time and money for the problem they created?  Why does it cost taxpayers more to correct a problem created by the school system in the first place?  Is the information gathered being stored for future reference?  Who can access information about when Susie went to the restroom and how long she was there or when Jason chose not to play in a game of baseball at lunchtime?

Are we sending our children to government schools to be monitored or educated?  Shouldn’t they be learning about the freedoms granted by the Bill of Rights rather than being harnessed by the very entity that grants their freedom?

If the school system wasn’t interfering with the lives of the children that are mandated by law to be its charge in the first place, they wouldn’t need to spend money to save the money they’re needlessly spending.

We were once personally responsible and dependent on ourselves, with occasional help from relatives, friends and neighbors.  Complacency has allowed the government to usurp our personal pride replacing it with dependency.  Only we are to blame!

Jerseys on school children today, mandated microchip GPS implants for everybody tomorrow, mind and thought control soon after.  It was science fiction yesterday but viable today.  If “We the People” don’t regain control of the government quickly, future generations will not be people, they’ll be government robots.
