From the National Journal:
If President Obama’s news conference accomplished anything on Wednesday afternoon, it underscored, in striking tones, his strategy for winning the debt ceiling fight with Republicans: Make it a clash of classes.
- Rich versus Poor.
- Us versus Them.
- Those who support children, food safety, medical research and, presumably, puppies and apple pie versus the rich fat cats who don’t.
Hang on gang; it’s going to get rough.
He’s already tried the “racist” thing. It may have actually worked for a while. He won’t let that go because it’s being echoed by every liberal in America. You know. If you don’t agree with his policies; his appointing Czars and creating major bureaucracies or his spending your money to bail out his friends and donors or throwing lavish dinners and concerts in the White House with famous rock star and Hollywood celebrities to entertain his daughters or creating a health care debacle that will force you to buy something you may not want or need or his spending more time golfing and vacationing at your expense than he spends on the business of the country, it’s only because you’re an ignorant, hateful, gun-toting, bible-thumping racist.
He’s already tried blaming Bush for everything. (I think he even tried to blame Bush for the devastation caused to Japan by a tsunami.) He said he would reverse everything done in the previous eight years yet really doesn’t have a clue about what was done or how to undo it. Nevertheless, that too, worked for a while. Now, even the DNC Chairperson Debbie Wasserman Schultz, admits the economy that’s in the tank and getting worse, is his. He won’t, and she’s undoubtedly in severe trouble for saying it, even if he does think she’s cute.
Now, it seems, he’s going to try to pit Americans against Americans, baiting us with rich vs. poor and again black vs. white and white vs. Hispanics and kids vs. adults as well as liberals vs. conservatives. It seems he’ll try anything short of jumping up and down shaking his fists and yelling “My way, it’s got to be my way”! (I’m personally not convinced that he doesn’t do that behind closed doors.)
He cannot justify his policies or his arguments…any of them, so he has to point fingers, call names, blame others and create chaos. The country is on fire; men, women and children are fighting and killing one another out of frustration and fear.
If only he had a fiddle! I guess in the 21st century a set of golf clubs will have to suffice.
