I found this posting on the Internet.  It seemed to be incomplete, so I added my clarifying questions and comments in purple.

Obama: ‘I Won’t Compromise On’ Higher Taxes for the Rich

President Barack Obama made his position on tax rates clear yesterday in remarks at the Daimler Detroit Diesel Plant in Redford Michigan.

“When you put it all together, what you need is a package that keeps taxes where they are for middle-class families; And, just what taxes are we talking about?  Are they the ever increasing consumer costs that are handed down by businesses forced to comply with unnecessary EPA regulations?   Are you talking about the taxes the middle class have to absorb so that you can continue your horrendous spending or giving the taxpayer money to friends and large donors?  we make some tough spending cuts on things that we don’t need; If they’re not needed, why not eliminate them completely instead of cutting some funding for them from the budget? and then we ask the wealthiest Americans to pay a slightly higher tax rate,” said Obama. ” And that’s a principle I won’t compromise on, because I’m not going to have a situation where the wealthiest among us, including folks like me, get to keep all our tax breaks, But, but, but…isn’t it you and your party refusing to eliminate or cap taxable deductions (breaks) for the wealthy? and then we’re asking students to pay higher student loans.  Or suddenly, a school doesn’t have schoolbooks because the school district couldn’t afford it.  Schools could afford the necessary tools for educating our children if it weren’t for 5 of 6 unnecessary layers of bureaucratic administration.  Wouldn’t this be a place to start?  Or some family that has a disabled kid isn’t getting the help that they need through Medicaid.”  Gee, this might not be a problem if you hadn’t raped Medicare and stolen $716 billion out of the purse!  Perhaps some of that money might have been better used for that disabled kid!

Obama, however, did signal he was able to compromise elsewhere.

“We can do more than just extend middle-class tax cuts. I’ve said I will work with Republicans on a plan for economic growth, job creation, and reducing our deficits. Yes, we’ve heard you SAY that.  It’s been almost four years now.  When do you anticipate starting to work with Congress?  Mr. President, when can we expect you to work with Republicans and not just demean them for making legislative counter-proposals to your dictatorial edicts?  And that has some compromise between Democrats and Republicans. I understand people have a lot of different views. I’m willing to compromise a little bit,” Oh yes.  Such a little bit one might not even notice.  Obama said in prepared remarks.
