SUNDAY NEWS PROGRAMS…THE FEAR AND THE SPIN

January 25, 2017

I spent Sunday morning triple flipping. That’s what I call it when I take in the political lies and spin from three TV stations at once. I tend to change channels between CNN, FOX and one other. Often the third is MSNBC but depending on the time, it could be a broadcast station. This week it was Media Buzz on FOX, Meet the Press on NBC and Reliable Sources on CNN.

This week, the three stations listed above had quite a spread of topics. I was particularly interested in the discussion on CNN. Thus, I spent the majority of my morning viewing time with them. All the while triple flipping, however. They (CNN) spent the better part of the program (I estimate about 24 min. air time) talking about nothing other than honesty in the Trump administration. The panel discussed how they expected information would be shared with the press and the American people and how reliable it might be.

The gentle diatribe seemed to center around how they would interpret and interpolate what came to them in briefings and what they were able to glean otherwise through their (chuckle, chuckle) reliable sources. It sounded much like they were afraid that if they tried to spin too fast, too hard or too much they might actually but unwittingly and undesirably present the truth. Whoa, careful, careful!

Of the entire discussion, I heard not one utterance regarding the lack of credibility of information they received over the past 8 years. Not one word. Nobody brought up Fast and Furious. No one offered dialogue about “If you like your doctor…” or “…no family making less than $250,000 a year will see any form of tax increase”. My hearing deficit may have precluded me from hearing anything about the myriad scandals (within the “scandal free”administration), coverups and lies about them that these stations, and almost all others, ignored. But that might be because President Obama said in 2013,“This is the most transparent administration in history”.

Politiks is politiks! There will always be things happening within our government that may never be known until we’re all long gone. There will be leaks from and about virtually every event by almost every department. Some of those leaks will be for real and some will be purposefully misleading. It’s a matter of how we receive, and personally analyze what we receive, that can leave us with knowledge. Or, we can rely on the opinions of the powder-faced journalists, reporters and pundits to guide us through life.

For myself, I choose to see what happens. Prejudging what may occur and trying to alter the perception of what actually does occur to meet my preconceived allusions is too difficult.

The coming four years is unquestionably going to be different from the past eight years. It well might be a disaster, but I’m willing to see and judge it for myself…on what happens, not what is said about what might happen. If it all goes to pot, there’s always impeachment and removal from office. With Republicans in charge of the congress, and not afraid to be labeled racists, it could happen. President Trump could also make America great again.

I’ll be attentive and not at all hesitant to be critical of anything I see, read or hear coming from Washington, D.C.

OUR GOVERNMENT AND IT’S MINISTRY OF TRUTH

January 5, 2017

Fake news is one thing. Making real news fake is quite another thing.

Seventeen agencies say the Russians hacked into the DNC computer system” is an example of how we are expected to sheepishly welcome what is authoritatively presented as truth. Actually, it was the DDNI, James Clapper, who said the Russians hacked the DNC computer system.

His statement was interpolated to include all the agencies under his jurisdiction. They include: Air Force Intelligence, Department of Treasury, Army Intelligence, Drug Enforcement Administration, Federal Bureau of Investigation, Coast Guard Intelligence, Marine Corps Intelligence, Defense Intelligence Agency, National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency, Department of Energy, National Reconnaissance Office, Department of Homeland Security, National Security Agency, Department of State, Navy Intelligence, Central Intelligence Agency.

Director Clapper is responsible for the Department of National Intelligence (DNI) and the sixteen others listed above, but they did not all agree that the “Russians” were behind the breach. (Well, that is, perhaps until they were told to smile, nod and otherwise acquiesce or be disciplined.) Hell, neither the directors of some of the agencies nor their staff knew anything about the hacking until they read it in the New York Times. Why would the Department of Energy investigate a cyber transgression?

The truth is, to this date, not one of the directors nor any of their charges have defining proof as to what, which state, group or individual actually invaded the site. To be sure, it was October 7, 2016 when Secretary Jeh Johnson and Director Clapper issued a joint statement  that the intelligence community is confident the Russian Government directed the recent compromises of emails from U.S. persons and institutions, including from U.S. political organizations”. The statement went on to say that the disclosures of alleged hacked e-mails on sites like DCLeaks.com and WikiLeaks are consistent with the Russian-directed efforts. Nothing any more positive has yet been said.

I remember my marketing teacher saying, “There is an implied credibility with repetition”. This one joint statement took on a life of it’s own. It was repeated by virtually every news outlet, email thread and Twitter feed until it morphed into what we now hear as “seventeen agencies all agree that the Russians hacked the DNC computer system and influenced with our presidential election”.

This misdirection has no reason other than to set problems for the new administration.  Barack is doing everything possible to cause chaos from January 20, 2017 forward so that his failed eight years won’t look so bad.

Back in October of last year <link> I wrote, They (Russians) may even be complicit in the information Wikileaks is sharing regarding Hillary’s unlawful email interactions and information storage.  However, “What difference, at this point, does it make” if it is the Russians, Guccifer, the NSA, Barack Obama, Donald Trump or Dorothy and Toto who hacked the emails?  It’s about the content, not who obtained it, how it was obtained or who shares it.

What did you read or hear today and accept as truth without checking further?

FOXNEWS – AS BIAS AND DISTORTED AS MSNBC?

March 14, 2015

For days now, FOXNews has hammered on the New York Times about cropping G.W. Bush out of a photograph taken at the 50th anniversary of the Selma march. The problem is that the evidence they continue to use to make the case is false.

The link below shows one discussion of the photo and article presented on FNC. While the discussion is valid; there should have been earlier mention of Bush’s presence, two different photos are presented as one.

Yes, George W. Bush was probably within camera view in the photo that made the prime spot of the front page.  And, he may well have been cropped out. But please FOX, don’t insult my intelligence by showing me two different photos and claiming otherwise.

Here is a 5 minute video. Pay particular attention to the intro and first photo. It is described as being taken on the Edmond Pettus bridge, but no evidence of a bridge exists. The front line people are holding hands and appear to be walking. At marker 0.36 of the video is the photo being compared and said to be cropped. It shows Bush off to the right. The people are milling about preparing for the march.

Bush may have been in the same relative position when the photo shown first was taken, but who can truly say that he was cropped out?

POOF – GONE!

July 25, 2013

How simple this administration must think our minds.  Benghazi, NSA, IRS, EPA and GSA, DOJ, immigration, Obamacare and Egyptian Brotherhood funding scandals and legislative debates have all but disappeared from the news.  The conspicuously missing investigations may continue quietly, but appear to be on terminal hold.  No Musak calmingly entertains you during the wait for justice.  Even Edward Snowden is background noise at this point because he, too, is trouble for this administration.

Anthony Weiner’s wiener shots seem to be the hot topic for today.  Can the people of New York trust him to run the city if his own wife can’t trust him to responsibly run his personal life?

News and discussion continues about the acquittal of George Zimmerman and the protests against his trial.  How he either got away with murder or had every right to defend himself with deadly force is the lead direction.  That will change too when the rest of America is tired of hearing the same back and forth about it.  Meanwhile, Washington D.C. gets little attention.  That’s exactly the way they want it.

It’s no wonder the White House is constantly attacking Rush Limbaugh, FoxNews, Breitbart and other conservative outlets.  They relay information gained from investigative journalists, not the controlled propaganda championed by the main stream media.  It’s easier to attack conservatives and call them names than it is to answer their questions.  After all, they just gin up phony scandals.  If it weren’t for alternative outlets, “We the People” would be completely in the dark regarding governmental affairs.

It’s just another White House/media misdirect, folks.  If you’re stupid enough to let it take your interest off the ball, you’re going to strike out again.  Right now Eric Holder continues to intimate that there may be a civil rights case brought forth against Zimmerman.  Once interest on that front wanes, there will be another “human interest” story surface to keep you from thinking about how this administration is trampling the Constitution.

Yes, it’s all about overstepping the bounds of the office of the President.  It started, if you recall, all the way back in 2009 with the czar program. Overseeing the give-away and proper mismanagement of stimulus money started shortly after the presidential inauguration.  Your tax dollars paid for the firing of experienced auto executives and placing Obama big money donors in their positions.  Steven Rattner became the “car czar”.  With Rattner in place, the UAW received tax payer funds as reward for their Obama campaign support.  It allowed the union to belay the strangle hold on Chrysler and GM, allowing the companies to use the funds in their coffers to produce automobiles.  Bales of the money went into developing the Chevy Volt.  How many dozens of those incendiaries are still on the street at a loss of $20,000 +/- each?  Only a few hundred were even sold.

Appointing czars, Directors and Cabinet Secretaries without congressional approval is the way of this administration.  Building bureaucracies and writing excessive regulations to stifle the job market and destroy businesses are the most useful tools of Obama’s arsenal.  Delay, divert, misdirect, obfuscate and move on when no one is looking are all parts of the dictatorial assemblage that is now Washington D.C.  Six pm on Friday is the ideal time to release Executive Orders, regulations, and other edicts of compliance because no one is paying attention and probably won’t until Monday.  By then it’s old news and, “What difference, at this point, does it make”?

THE NEXT GENERATION

July 15, 2013

Currently, our public schools fail in basic education.  They do a stellar job of socially engineering and politically indoctrinating of our kids, but they fail to educate and prepare them for productive lives.

The same people who refuse school vouchers and deny home schooling are trying to force a higher minimum wage.  Young adults leave high school with insufficient knowledge of math, English and academics in general, personal responsibility, work ethic or the benefits of self-reliance.  A “living wage” for doing an unskilled menial and repetitive task is the only way for the undereducated to survive.

Upon graduation, however, they do know how to cry foul and blame others for their failures.  They cannot compete, yet demand unearned respect and rapid advancement.  For twelve or thirteen years, they receive passing grades for doing substandard work resulting from little effort. Inadequate is sufficient.

Of course, higher wages mean finished products cost more necessitating a higher wage to accommodate the new cost of living.  If progressives continue to control the collection and distribution of taxes, knowledge and education may not be necessary in tomorrow’s world.  Everybody, except for the ruling class, will be equal and trudge through life accepting government subsidies.

Progressives now want to begin the indoctrination process as soon as infants are potty trained. They will even take over that process if it will speed their ultimately dictatorial agenda of a One World Government. To achieve that goal, they must first have complete control of their subjects’ minds.

Please take the time to watch the first three minutes of the linked video. http://www.therealfoodchannel.com/page/11792.html   It illustrates how marketing (for food products) trains the compliant minds of preteen children to unquestionably accept and adjust to directed presentation.  This is the same method used by liberal teachers in our schools today.

Two particularly pertinent statements caused alarm when I watched this.  They are, “Young children cannot comprehend how advertising is manipulating them”, and “Children cannot be expected to exercise critical thinking or personal responsibility about food choice until they are quite a bit older.  The exact age is a matter of some research debate, but eight-year-olds certainly fall below it.”

Are you still sure that public education is the proper way for your children, grandchildren and future generations?  Perhaps if we just pour more money into the public school system…?
