DEMOCRATS NEED TO FIND A MESSAGE

July 7, 2017

I love it! I listen to Democrat party leaders, spokespersons and pundits commenting on their own organization. I read newspaper articles and blog postings from all avenues of the political spectrum. Honestly, I spend much of my leisure time with FOX, but often take in the challenging viewpoints of CNN, MSNBC and the three old and tired broadcast stations. Occasionally, I listen to talk radio. It matters naught what is on or who is speaking, the theme continues to be that the Democrat party needs to find a message the American public cares about. Republican and Democrat pundits reiterate the same thing, “the Democrats need a message”.

Wow! That tells me everything I need to know about the party whose members describe it as “the oldest voter-based political party in the world”. They’re lost. They have nothing too offer; they need a message. They have no cohesive direction or thoughts regarding what is right for you or the country. They have no convictions to share before any election. They don’t even care, they just need to find a message, then they might work on the rest.  Perhaps they’ll just promote the new message without regard for carrying it out.

Shouldn’t it be the other way around? Shouldn’t a political party or politician start with a reason for being, then work on achieving that objective? Wouldn’t it be nice to find a person or party that has defined a goal for the nation that they can proudly announce and run on? And then, of course, follow through to accomplish the stated goal.

Politicians today, on both sides of the aisle, are so consumed with winning elections; so oriented on planting their butt into a seat of power that they must manufacture a cause. It doesn’t matter how ridiculous or meaningless it is, as long as it resonates with their constituents. Identify a heartwarming cause. Coin a slogan. Promise the minions anything but get into that prestigious and enviable position.  Then you can relax, forget the promises and chug along with the daily flow. Spend ¾ of your time campaigning for the next election to maintain your new job. Stop by the chamber and cast a vote or two occasionally (you need not spend any time reading bills, just ask the veterans within your party how they think you should vote). Then go out and raise some more money for the DNC and yourself.

You can bet that as soon as the Democrats find a message they will use it to raise funds to get someone elected. Once defined, the media will carry that message on every front page as a headline and every cable and broadcast program until it becomes believable. Those public indoctrinated educated idiots won’t understand that they are entrapping themselves into subservience to the elite as they lap up the free kool-aid.

Watch out! They will find that repeatable jingle or phrase. Once they do, it is all you will hear until the next round of votes are in. It will obsolete “Make America Great Again”. When you hear it enough, fake news is the truth. No matter what the audible surface words are, you can bet the subliminal message is “Put Democrats in Power. Despotism and Socialism is what you really want”.

Your income will drop.  Your taxes will rise.  Your rights will be legislated away.  The national debt will grow.  Then, the only difference between the U.S. and Venezuela will be the primary language.

AMERICANS NOW DEMAND A STRONG CENTRAL GOVERNMENT

November 23, 2016

While most people today (especially conservatives and libertarians) choose not to admit it, we all want a strong government. Strong, not abusive or authoritarian or devastatingly large, but strong is what we want and need. Collectively, we’ve voted against the thing we truly want on four consecutive occasions now. George W. Bush was weak. He had some good points but overall he was timid and politically concerned. Obama is anemic when compared to Bush. Obama’s strong point is his despotic pen and phone takeover of the other two branches of government.

Trump has vastly different views from those of Obama, and though he has not yet shown himself to be a despotic ideologue, he is recognized as authoritative. A major difference between the two might be Trump’s ability to listen and act upon information that is inconsistent with his prior understanding or knowledge. We’ve already seen him bridge chasms created in the campaign process by meeting with and, at this point, speculatively offering jobs within the administration to his former political detractors.

Obama fired those who didn’t immediately smile and nod in agreement with every wild-eyed romantic suggestion he proposed. Once dismissed, he then shamed the fired mercilessly to cover his own reprehensible actions. Those caught breaking the law on his behalf, however, were awarded sanctuary within the administration. Lateral transfers, advancement or retirement with full pension and benefits are commonly noted. His attorney(s) general refused to prosecute on behalf of the American people because, in more than one case, both are implicated in unlawful events.

Obama is strong in his Utopian views and willingly defies the very constitution on which he claims profound knowledge and is sworn to uphold. Perhaps he studied law, and the constitution in particular, simply to identify how to violate them and avoid expeditious rebuke or repercussions.

We need a strong government, one within which are public servants with strong convictions and adherence to our founding documents and laws made with regard to them. The original documents were written with reason and caution, not emotion or political bias. That is why changing them requires an “act of congress”.

At this point we’ll have to wait and see if the next president drains the swamp as promised or lags along with what we have; a costly bloated and inefficient government filled with regulatory statutes lacking reason or meaning. Already, Democrats are rallying to find the best way to deny confirmation to any right-minded appointees. Donald J. Trump has pledged to rightsize (a business term coined in the late 1990s) the government through attrition and request budgets that help that process along.

Congress may once again act in a congressional manner, as a third member of the government, rather than fearful of being termed racist because they don’t cow-tow to radical wants of a president of color. And yes, orange is a color. Just ask John Boehner. Supreme Court appointees upholding laws rather than common culture will also restore and strengthen the government as it was meant to be.

APPROPRIATION AND ALLOCATION

December 21, 2014

Let us all bow our heads in shame on behalf of Congress. The IRS will be short of money to carry out their nefarious acts.

IRS Commissioner John Koskinen is threatening a shutdown because Congress “cut” their budget by $346 million. His answer to the fictitious budget cut is to furlough employees. First, there is no budget to cut. This is just a reduction in the additional money they requested. They’re still getting more money, just not as much as they wanted.

As I wrote a couple of days ago in “JUST TYPICAL”, there is no budget. If government agencies would just submit a budget for approval, then follow the spending plan outlined in such budget, there would be plenty of money. If they spent the money wisely, there might even be some left over at the end of the CR term. There would be no deficit and the debt could be reduced rather than continuously increasing.

What I don’t understand is where the IRS may be saving money by furloughing employees. The employees still get paid for doing about the same thing as normal – little to nothing.  Additionally, they will save gasoline by having the opportunity to do it at home. They may have to wait until Boehner gives in to get all the back pay, but government employees never lose pay!!!  In fact, there is a pay raise outlined in the request.

If the IRS, and every government agency, would not waste the money they get, there would be more than enough to carry them through meager times. Example: Over the past five years, the IRS has spent valuable time and money harassing conservative groups applying for non-profit status. They have sent hundreds of millions of dollars in tax refunds to people in foreign countries who never paid into the system, some of whom have never even stepped foot in the United States.  They have spent money on lavish and unnecessary retreats, producing videos and promoting the fraud that is Obamacare and paid out ridiculous bonuses to top officials responsible for the unchecked and unwarranted overspending.

To those of you who say, “Yeah, but a couple million dollars is a drop in the bucket”, I say wait a minute and think it through. There are over 500 government agencies and departments, each with spending authority in multiple millions of dollars. If each entity overspends what is necessary by an average of only $3 million per year, that is over $1.5 TRILLION wasted every year. Bonuses for overpaid department heads and administrators for doing a mediocre job might be an easy place to start cutting. Perhaps then we would see some accountability.

It’s a simple matter of budgeting and allocating the appropriated money appropriately.
