Anything to demean the country.

Obama said, “There are some structural issues with our economy where a lot of businesses have learned to become more efficient with a lot fewer workers.  You see it when you go to a bank and use an ATM, you don’t go to a bank teller, or you go to the airport and you’re using a kiosk instead of checking in at the gate”.

At least one article in the WSJ quotes him as saying, “Globalization and technology and automation all weaken the position of workers”, [Obama] said, and a strong government hand is needed to assure that wealth is distributed more equitably”.

He doesn’t seem to realize that ATMs and kiosks don’t just appear out of nowhere.  It’s the high cost of unions that force the jobs overseas, but they still exist.  The concentration should be in bringing the jobs back home.

How many jobs go into an ATM?

1. Engineering

2. Plant management

3. Administration and support

4. Model Making

5. Prototype development

6. Manufacturing

7. Production

8. Marketing

9. Sales

10. Delivery

11. Setup

12. Servicing

13. Repair and replacement.

On the other hand, you could have a person paid slightly more than minimum wage hand you a $20 bill.

Ignorance of business: what it takes, and what it gives to be productive and contributing to the economy seems to be his weakness.  With no understanding of anything other than corrupt politics, coercion, collusion and intimidation, how can this administration ever expect to get the country right again?  Oh, yeah, there never was intent to do that.  He stated early and often that his plan was to “fundamentally transform” the nation.

The President has since restated his position on technology to acknowledge American manufacturing as an option to growing the economy.  Perhaps he embarrassed himself with his earlier unintelligent remarks.  Nah!  It was Bush’s fault.
