WE NEED INFORMATION TO DRAW CONCLUSIONS

April 5, 2017

One of the biggest mistakes most people make is drawing information from only one source or sources of only one dimension. In order to arrive at a conclusion (a reasoned decision based on facts and evidence), a person has to avail themselves to all facts and information possible. The conclusion must be drawn without regard for personal preferences or desired outcome.

The reason, as I see it, for the extreme divisiveness between our political viewpoints at present is that most people are predetermined to accept a particular result. They (we), refuse to consider evidence contrary to the desired conclusion. Neutral thinking is no longer taught, learned or accepted.

We, of the general public, must rely on the sincerity of the source(s) from which we derive our conclusions. Unfortunately, very few of those origins are unbiased. The information our government affords the public always has a slant or bias. Politicians believe they are responsible for determining how we must feel and think. To remain in office, it is necessary for them to influence how we think.

We all have dispositions toward particular radio and TV stations. We tend to read books, newspapers and magazines that generally agree with our viewpoints. We gravitate to information that reinforces and builds upon what we inherently know or believe.

Introducing nonconforming data into preferential thought frustrates the mind, thus it is disregarded. When such happens, when we discard facts or evidence because it conflicts with a foregone conclusion, we diminish our capacity for reason. We subject ourselves to invalid consequence due to illegitimate presumptions.

Our political system, meant to be adversarial, has become viciously antagonistic. Democrats refuse to work with Republicans because they are not Democrats. Republicans likewise block proposals offered by Democrats. Compromise to modern politicians is ‘you agree with me or else’! Correspondingly, the public takes similar positions. President Trump is not protested for what he has done politically. He is disavowed and derided because he is not a Democrat.

The lack of civil political discourse by those in office as well as the citizens who elect them is exactly why we had to endure the past eight years. It is the reason for the polar change to a character and style of complete opposite.

There is no middle ground in politics today because we refuse to listen and accept that which is different from what we ‘inherently’ know or want to be true. There is no compromise or concession. We have enacted rule by edict and opposition by anger over the past decade. The future does not look pretty.

The average life expectancy of a democracy is 200 years. We have exceeded that mark. We need to look at what we’re doing to our country and our individual lives. We must look at, see and consider both sides within the political arena before moving forward. As a society, we’re not making good decisions.

The governments of Venezuela, Cuba, Brazil and China only serve those in charge. Are your decisions derived from full information?

THE PENDULUM SWING-IS IT A GOOD THING?

March 6, 2017

Over the past few decades we (the attentive few) have seen our Executive branch take on more and more power and authority. The executive branch is now just shy of dictatorial. The body congress is intimidated, highly partisan and sheepishly resigned. Our courts are directing legislation.

The constitution doesn’t allow for it, congress isn’t granting it and the courts are capitulating. It’s happening before our eyes as we sleep and while we’re blindly awake. The news we receive, the little real news and the fake news, feeds us only what those at the top want us to hear.

Politicians have lied to their constituents since time immemorial. It’s nothing new. However, within my short span of time and awareness, it has become most blatant. It is done without regard for your intelligence and without concern for being called on it. “I can assure you that the United States has no intention of using force to overthrow the Castro regime.”…“I am not a crook”…“Read my lips”…“I did not have sexual relations with that woman, Ms. Lewinsky.”…“Intelligence gathered by this and other governments leaves no doubt that the Iraq regime continues to possess and conceal some of the most lethal weapons ever devised”…“The misconceptions are that we are conducting spying operations on US citizens, which is of course not the fact. That is absolutely not what we do.”… “I have no recollection of that”…“I can make a firm pledge. Under my plan, no family making less than $250,000 a year will see any form of tax increase. Not your income tax, not your payroll tax, not your capital gains taxes, not any of your taxes.”… and of course, “If you like your doctor, you will be able to keep your doctor, period”.

The overlapping, redundant and duplicitous alphabet agencies (NSA, CIA, FBI, OIC, NSC and even the IRS) within the government now control our elected and appointed officials. Be it by intimidation extortion or bribery, the spooks are in charge. They also hold a very strong influence over the run-of-the-mill mid level bureaucrats with citizens who step out of their overlord defined box immediately become subject to enhanced repercussion. <link>

Our new president is in feud with the miscreants of all the above named agencies and departments. He agrees with many of us who believe the inner cabal has either been fraudulently awarded, or usurped more supremacy than authorized by the citizens. President Trump claims commitment to reining that jurisdiction and restoring the federal government to its rightful limits of privilege and dominance.

Doing so, might be the world’s greatest challenge because only he and his relatively small team are taking on an extensive and deep seated resistance. It’s David fighting a Goliath force of three actual factions.

First are those who desire to keep their seats of assumed authority and clout. Second are the ignorant lemmings who do not recognize from whom they receive their marching orders or even understand what they mindlessly “protest”.

This layer is under constant bombardment and encouragement of the broadcast, print and peer social media. They are organized by charismatic figures with a devious agenda. It’s a cultist engagement. The goals of the leaders are not shared with the devotees. The worshipers will only find out the last batch of Kool-Aid is spiked with poison when cocktail time is announced. Society as we know it will be doomed by the heedless group-think of the devotees if we allow them to reach that hour.

So then we have to question; Is a rapid and forceful pendulum swing the best thing for the country and the world at this time? Will quickly righting the course of the country from its errant direction of the recent eight years upset the tenuous balance of the nation and the world? Or, will a slower, more methodical natural change keep the ship from capsizing as we come about?

THESE ARE DEFINITELY DIFFERENT TIMES

February 20, 2017

This president has more to overcome than most. Because he is an outsider, he doesn’t understand or follow political protocol. He makes things happen rather than convening delegations to talk about what needs to be done then waiting for something to begin happening.

Mistakes? Yes. That’s not at all uncommon when advancing new programs or ideas. Mistakes can be and are corrected. Calling them “unintended consequences”, dismissing them and moving forward is wrong on every level. The ACA is a prime example. It was wrong from the beginning. It was costly and offered less care than insurance companies allowed prior. Doing nothing is safe and prolongs political careers, but accomplishes nothing else.

It’s now far beyond party politics. This is anarchy. This is riotous rebellion. There is no other excuse for the foolishness taking place in Washington, D.C. and around the country. The entrenched Washington establishment hates change. That’s why it takes so long for conventional channels to effect anything beneficial. When little happens, there are fewer unintended consequences and the ignorant masses won’t see any difference…to appreciate or protest. Therefore, those in office stay in office and continue feeding their own pockets.

The Ninth Circus recently made another of their now infamous bonehead decisions. They, again, made a political statement in favor of rainbows and perceived harmony instead of homeland security. The written opinion, meant to justify the decision, illustrated that it was not a constitutional or even a logical decision. It was purely political.

The news agencies are out to get the president, his staff, his advisers and his confirmed department heads. Because they parse his every word to benefit their preconceived agenda, Sean Spicer skips questions from many of the leftest news-maker-uppers. When not called upon in recent press briefings, they became even louder and more malevolent using comparisons to Hitler and the Taliban in their talk programs and opinion columns hoping to win greater access and favor. DUH!

Much, if not all, of this is due to the fact that President Trump is a political outsider. He is learning the ropes and he’s learning who’s dangling them in front of him. Talk of impeachment began shortly after he won the election! Thus, it may take a bit longer for things to settle. None the less, he will dodge the alligators as he removes their habitat.

The left, the media (redundancy noted), the right and even the apolitical bureaucrats don’t yet understand his non-governmental style. They are not used to getting things done rapidly. The civil servant desk jockeys, in particular, are not familiar with justifying their pay by accomplishing tasks within a reasonable time.  They too are balking at the new administration.  The first 100 days will be primarily the sorting and filing firing days.

SUNDAY NEWS PROGRAMS…THE FEAR AND THE SPIN

January 25, 2017

I spent Sunday morning triple flipping. That’s what I call it when I take in the political lies and spin from three TV stations at once. I tend to change channels between CNN, FOX and one other. Often the third is MSNBC but depending on the time, it could be a broadcast station. This week it was Media Buzz on FOX, Meet the Press on NBC and Reliable Sources on CNN.

This week, the three stations listed above had quite a spread of topics. I was particularly interested in the discussion on CNN. Thus, I spent the majority of my morning viewing time with them. All the while triple flipping, however. They (CNN) spent the better part of the program (I estimate about 24 min. air time) talking about nothing other than honesty in the Trump administration. The panel discussed how they expected information would be shared with the press and the American people and how reliable it might be.

The gentle diatribe seemed to center around how they would interpret and interpolate what came to them in briefings and what they were able to glean otherwise through their (chuckle, chuckle) reliable sources. It sounded much like they were afraid that if they tried to spin too fast, too hard or too much they might actually but unwittingly and undesirably present the truth. Whoa, careful, careful!

Of the entire discussion, I heard not one utterance regarding the lack of credibility of information they received over the past 8 years. Not one word. Nobody brought up Fast and Furious. No one offered dialogue about “If you like your doctor…” or “…no family making less than $250,000 a year will see any form of tax increase”. My hearing deficit may have precluded me from hearing anything about the myriad scandals (within the “scandal free”administration), coverups and lies about them that these stations, and almost all others, ignored. But that might be because President Obama said in 2013,“This is the most transparent administration in history”.

Politiks is politiks! There will always be things happening within our government that may never be known until we’re all long gone. There will be leaks from and about virtually every event by almost every department. Some of those leaks will be for real and some will be purposefully misleading. It’s a matter of how we receive, and personally analyze what we receive, that can leave us with knowledge. Or, we can rely on the opinions of the powder-faced journalists, reporters and pundits to guide us through life.

For myself, I choose to see what happens. Prejudging what may occur and trying to alter the perception of what actually does occur to meet my preconceived allusions is too difficult.

The coming four years is unquestionably going to be different from the past eight years. It well might be a disaster, but I’m willing to see and judge it for myself…on what happens, not what is said about what might happen. If it all goes to pot, there’s always impeachment and removal from office. With Republicans in charge of the congress, and not afraid to be labeled racists, it could happen. President Trump could also make America great again.

I’ll be attentive and not at all hesitant to be critical of anything I see, read or hear coming from Washington, D.C.

AGAIN WE HEAR ABOUT THOSE NASTY, EVIL RUSSIANS

October 24, 2016

I am not a Putin lover. I do not agree with his abusive, aggressive and repressive methods of ruling. However, I do not blame him or his government for the world’s ills any more than I blame Obama. That may be a toss-up! I do accept that there may be some involvement in hacking emails to obtain government secrets.

They may even be complicit in the information Wikileaks is sharing regarding Hillary’s unlawful email interactions and information storage. However: “What difference, at this point, does it make” if it is the Russians, Guccifer, the NSA, Barack Obama, Donald Trump or Dorothy and Toto who hacked the emails? It’s about the content, not who obtained it, how it was obtained or who shares it.

This is all distortion, distraction and misdirection. This finger pointing is typical liberal cookie theft. This is the Alinsky method taught to the upcoming socialists in the 1960s and 1970s; the politicians, teachers, and journalism professors of today.

I’m sure you remember the school yard bully who would come up from behind and excitedly yell, “Look, over there”. As the object child and those around looked off in the distance to see nothing, the bully would take off. Like him, the yummy chocolate chip cookie that mom lovingly baked would turn up missing. Everybody suspected who had done it but, because everybody was distracted, nobody could prove it. None the less, the cookie was gone.

The email scandal, like so many other administration crimes associated with it, is portrayed as some fault other than the actual perpetrator’s. It’s not Hillary’s or Podesta’s or Huma’s fault that this stuff was said or written. No, it’s the fault of the “Ruskies” and Wikileaks for receiving and sharing the nasty stuff. It’s also the fault of FOX News for talking about the leaked emails and other subjects that the MSM discards to protect their own.

And if you believe there is fraud in the election process, you must be un-American. That’s the kind of stuff that happens in dictatorships and banana republics, not in America.

You can’t believe anything coming from Project Veritas because James O’Keefe was prosecuted for presenting truth in a media universe otherwise devoid of it. He uses deceitful methods to garner the truth from deceitful lawbreakers. He then presents unedited questions and responses in video format similar to any broadcast news story.

ACORN, Planned Parenthood and the DNC don’t actually do the things their corporate heads, employees and contractors say they do because O’Keefe’s employees didn’t tell the personnel they were being taped. Thus, the left claims his videos are subject to question.

If we’re going to shoot messengers, it should be those who present lies and distortions for personal, corporate or political gain, not those who convey the truth. Give investigative journalism a break. Establishment news disseminators no longer bother with research and few expend the effort to even verify that which comes to them bundled.

Corruption is corruption even if the Russians find out about it and Wikileaks publishes it.
