SEEKING THE LOWEST COMMON DENOMINATOR

August 7, 2017

According to a 2010 study by Columbia University, remedial math courses are necessary for students entering community colleges. The study states that nearly 50% of freshman students are not proficient in math and must catch up in order to participate in a regular curriculum.

Causally referred to as 13th grade, the courses for freshman year are costly and time consuming for those who wish to graduate within reasonable time. But, guhuck,…unqualified students can say they is in college. This here is edacashun in the twenny oneth senchery.

Don’t require participation or completion of assignments in grade and high school, just pass the students for attending classes. In some cases, students are even paid for stopping by the school during regular class time. <link>

For those who do show up regularly on their own, give them grades that make them feel good about themselves. Everyone is at the top of the class.

This is nothing new. I have made my feelings about our schools and “presence promotion” known previously and often. <link>

Now, for those who cannot understand or choose not to participate in mathematics enlightenment, Eloy Ortiz Oakley, chancellor of California Community Colleges is willing to do away with algebra as a graduation requirement. He says it is a civil rights issue that disproportionately plagues low income Americans. His own words, “If you think about all the underemployed or unemployed Americans in this country who cannot connect to a job in this economy — which is unforgiving of those students who don’t have a credential — the biggest barrier for them is this algebra requirement. It’s what has kept them from achieving a credential.”

Okay, so now the uneducated individual has a credential and gets a job? How long will that person last if he or she doesn’t have the knowledge required for the position or is too lazy to learn the position because of his or her training by the system?

According to the Pew Research Center, the United States is dropping lower and lower in the rankings against other world countries. Students primarily educated in Asian countries perform far better and generally rank in the top 5-10 worldwide. <link>

Some four year colleges are now limiting the number of Asian students. Could this be due to the fact that some cultures still encourage personal responsibility and emphasize the need for education and knowledge over social equality? Could it be that those people who believe in hard work and self discipline are changing the arch of the bell curve to cause more sub-par or failing grades among our coddled youth?

Since the majority of our offspring do so poorly in all three fundamental groups (math, science and reading) why do we even bother spending valuable taxpayer money or class time on the lazy urchins with these now outdated subjects? By doing away with such unnecessary studies as U.S. and world history, English, geography, math, biology, etc. there would be so much more time for the pertinent and requisite studies of the day that will help them be successful and prosper. Gender reassignment, multi-sexual enlightenment, race baiting relations, claiming cultural offense and peaceful protest through aggression and the use of weapons are sure to make life better for all.

Oh, yeah, one course that must be taught in our public schools is how to demand that someone else properly fill out the application for complete government life subsidy. Then the kids will qualify for a diploma (that they cannot read). After the ceremony, the graduating class can then stroll down the hall, certificate in hand, to the embedded government office and get an early start on a subservient life by applying for public assistance. That way they can avoid the embarrassment of being unqualified to flip hamburgers, wash linen or pick up trash in the parkways of life.

IT WAS CALLED A DAY WITHOUT IMMIGRANTS BUT FOR MANY IT WAS THE LAST DAY OF WORK

February 22, 2017

After eight years of coddling people who have skirted laws and agents in their quest to break into our country, some employers finally found the strength to push back. Stories abound from coast to coast regarding the many business owners who decided that their livelihoods would not be dictated by the people they employ.

Last Thursday was labeled “A Day Without Immigrants”. Natural born citizens as well as legal and illegal immigrants took to the streets in protest of what some call security for our borders, economy and nation in general. Many of the protesters found that actions have consequences. Employers have an abundance of applications and resumes for people anxious to fill the now vacant positions.

According to news articles:

Tulsa, OK – 12 Latinos were dismissed for failing to show up for work. The business had to close for the day and the owner lost his ability to pay his ongoing bills that day.

Statesville, N.C. – 18 people lost their employment for failing to report to work on time-sensitive contracts.

Lexington, S.C. – after being warned, 21 workers were fired for defiantly not showing up for work.

Bonita Springs, FL – 6 staff members no longer have jobs.

Commerce City, CO – 30 brick layers were set idle.

Nolensville, TN – 20 households lost, at least, a significant portion of their income.

Before you cry RACIST you must understand that when employees of any nationality shut down a business, the owner must assure that it will not happen a second time for the same or any other reason. When a person invests their expertise, labor and money to produce an ongoing income for themselves and their family, that becomes his or her priority. Employing people is only a means to achieve that personal goal. There is no obligation to provide for those willing to cause harm to that business or employer. If only we could get rid of the insubordinate deadwood in government as easily.

It’s not a matter of race or nationality, it’s a matter of protecting one’s investment. If these employers were truly racist, would he or she have given a job to someone they despise because of their national origin or skin color?

Restaurant patrons coast to coast experienced delays in receiving their fare because waiters, cooks and other staff failed to report for work. Some establishments were forced to close for the day due to lack of staff. From California to Maine, the unreliable are now seeking new employment. While many, but not all, are Hispanic, that is not the reason for their firing. Caring more about making a political statement than they did about their employer’s right to continue in business is the reason.

PUBLIC EDUCATION OR GLOBALIST INCUBATION CENTERS

January 31, 2017

Over the last few decades, the state-run indoctrination centers have seemingly lost all focus on education. Instead, they concentrate on social issues.  Gender identity, climate variance and diversity are prominent.

However, as core academic scores drop the government continues to take over your rights and usurps the authority for raising your children. Oh, you still remain the responsible party when something goes wrong. They just want complete jurisdiction over instilling a radical leftist viewpoint into the malleable minds of your offspring. They foster incubation facilities for social collectivism that demand governmental authority over child raising. <link>

Thanks to progressives pushing their communal association plans, kids of the U.S. today have less chance of success than ever before. The American Dream is now ascension to mediocrity.

According to a 2012 National Center for Education Statistics report (the most recent found), math scores for the U.S. dropped from 25th to 31st among developed nations since 2009; from 20th to 24th in science; and from 11th to 21st in reading. We now rank #1 in gender diversity education, though.

Even Portugal (a socialist dominated political and economic system), expects more parental participation. Recently, one school principal posted the following in the hallways.

Dear parents

  • We would like to remind you that magic words such as hello, please, you’re welcome, I’m sorry, and thank you, all begin to be learned at home.
  • It’s also at home that children learn to be honest, to be on time, diligent, show friends their sympathy, as well as show utmost respect for their elders and all teachers.
  • Home is where they learn to be clean, not talk with their mouths full, and how/where to properly dispose of garbage.
  • Home is also where they learn to be organized, to take good care of their belongings, and that it’s not ok to touch others.
  • Here at school, on the other hand, we teach language, math, history, geography, physics, sciences, and physical education. We only reinforce the education that children receive at home from their parents.

I guess they’ve learned that some things are better handled at home.  Doing away with the over-lording and abysmal failure known as the Department of Education is a first step.  Returning supervision of education to local districts with direct input from parents might be a second step.  Competition in the form of school choice could also help those students who want to learn.

As with so many things, decentralizing massive bureaucratic authorities in favor of localized responsibility and control is the proper direction to making America great again.

VOTE FOR HILLARY – SHE CAN FIX ANYTHING

September 26, 2016

Because she has a vagina, Hillary claims she can fix anything. She can make employers respect women more and pay them equal to the men on staff and give them paid maternity leave in addition to vacation and sick time, longer workday break times, allow them to leave work early in order to attend school or family functions or partake of anything womanly.

She can fix the economy by assuring that unskilled and uneducated and otherwise disadvantaged workers are paid a “living wage”. Giving more taxpayer money to unemployed and unemployable people also cycles more money through the economy. Making sure they have access to a decent place to live, cable television, cell phones and internet service at home gives them more leisure time to seek jobs. (Of course, that might mean giving up some of the government provided bucks and goodies.)

She can fix education by giving failing public schools more money for the administrators to squander. Higher education is easily attained with low-interest loans for tuition and no penalty for default. Lowering standards so that anybody can attend and pass classes also helps satisfy the need for a certificate in social justice.

She can fix world problems by accepting donations to the Clinton Foundation and exorbitant speaking fees for her husband. She can fix the broken classified email system by simply installing a server of her own and keeping or deleting emails as she chooses.

She can fix book reviews by having Amazon reorganize the way they accept and classify those critical of her books. She can fix disparate physical characteristics by mandating that a platform be used behind her debate podium to make her look taller and more presidential. She can fix the disadvantage she may have with her jaded political and executive experience by having debate moderators instantly fact check her opponent as Candy Crowley did on behalf of Barack Obama in 2012. (Crowley’s “facts” were wrong, but her interjection did help her candidate win the debate.)

She can make sure every election is fair by not requiring people to identify themselves as living, breathing citizens and local precinct dwellers at the polls. To do so would be inordinately discriminatory.

Yep, Hillary apparently can fix anything…well except for her habitual lying about everything.

MINIMUM WAGE, EQUAL PAY, WORKPLACE EQUALITY

February 3, 2016

I agree that workers should not be exploited. However, there is a place for minimum wage. There must be a reasoned wage platform which allows some people to learn compatibility with company standards and performance. Minimum wage gives people an opportunity to earn some money as they develop their work skills. Entry level or “bottom-rung” positions might be considered on-the-job training. They are not meant as long-term positions. The wage should be equal to the value an employee offers the employer.

Employees moving into an industry with which they are unfamiliar or others who have little skill, knowledge or motivation may also fall onto that platform. There are also people who use the base wage as a springboard to demonstrate how they can perform and prove their value to an employer. The skilled and motivated might use the lower-rung positions as temporary or transitional subsistence until a job opens that is more compatible with their abilities and worthiness.

At any rate, minimum wage jobs are not, and never have been, meant to support a family or even an individual long-term.

With the argument for minimum wage out of the way, let us move on to equal pay for equal work. This request or mandate is usually presented by women and minorities. And they are right! There should never be a disparity in pay between people performing the same job at the same performance level no matter what their gender, perceived gender, desired gender, race, ethnicity, religious background, belief system or any other quality or notable characteristic. And, with few exceptions, this rarely occurs in the workplace.

Employers generally want the best possible person in the most suitable position. This maximizes the output of the individual employee and that of the company. Intelligent employers do not want a valued employee disgruntled enough to cause an undercurrent that disconcerts the workplace or one who leaves the company with ill feelings. The last thing they want is for a worthy employee to defect for employment with a competitor. Employers, managers or supervisors will do what is necessary to protect his or her workers from dissatisfaction. If that means raising pay or benefits for merit or performance, that is what generally happens. Thus, it is possible and correct for two people working side-by-side, at the same task, to receive different compensation.

The same basic rule applies to workplace equality. Except for irrational bigotry on behalf of senior staff, there is rarely cause for inequality in the workplace. There are various, and often overlapping, government agencies to remedy such occurrences. Most states have agencies to mitigate offending circumstances within the workplace. They may be called Labor Relations Board, Labor and Workforce Development Agency or other such names, but they are in place to protect workers.

On the federal level there are the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, the National Labor Relations Board, U.S. Commission on Civil Rights, U.S. Department of Labor, Employee Benefits Security Administration and for the health and safety of workers there is the Occupational Health and Safety Administration. Remedies abound.

No employer wants to suffer excessive fines imposed by the above listed agencies for actions that may occur from discontent among employees and/or senior staff. Very few are willing to chance the outcome by these liberal oversight agencies prone to act on behalf of the employee.

So basically, I guess what I’m saying is “Quit your whining and take control of your life rather than complaining, blaming and waiting for someone to make your stay on this planet better for you. If you don’t like your job or employer or don’t feel you’re being treated fairly, leave.” Why would any sane and intelligent person want to remain in an untenable situation?

No matter what the current crop of politicians propose, we don’t need any more duplication of services or any new government agencies to carelessly waste the precious tax dollars of those producing them.

We do need producers who are willing to apply themselves for just consideration. The workplace is not an extension of public education.  Work cannot be compared to regurgitating what the teacher or professor imprinted on your mind. It takes desire and effort to succeed and prosper in the real world.
