IT’S A FUNDING PROBLEM

March 9, 2013

It’s not a teaching problem; it’s a lack of funding.

According to a report from New York’s CBS-2 news, eighty percent of students graduating from New York City high schools remedial reading program, can’t read.

At a taxpayer expense of $18,800 per student per year, (47% above the national average) the kids of New York are doomed to a life of flipping burgers.  The good news is that progressives want to raise the minimum wage so that poverty is more acceptable than the food prepared by the undereducated populace.

There’s more good news, too.  For those who want to break out of the life to which they have been sentenced by the lower public school echelon, the City University of New York (CUNY) offers a low-cost English immersion program for those who can’t read their recently awarded high school diploma.  Recognizing the problem, the CUNY class is guaranteed to bring reading skills to a level where the high school graduates can read and understand the “HOT” warning on a coffee maker.  Then they will be prepared to move on and become PPACA doctors.

It’s almost like a Ronco commercial…”And, if you act now, we’ll throw in a complete education for only a small fee.  You just pick up the voucher from your local Welfare office”.

I have to question the system.  How is CUNY able to take kids with twelve years of public school education who cannot read ‘Fun With Dick and Jane’ and turn them into Tolstoy scholars in nine weeks?  If CUNY can actually bring up the reading skills in a short period, why isn’t the same method used in 3rd, 4th, 5th, and 6th grade?

A possible answer to my own question might be:  The tenured union teachers take time from instilling knowledge of math, English, reading and history to teach the students how to put condoms on cucumbers and how stealing from the wealthy is commendable.  Nah, that’s too simple.

Double the funding for public schools, it’s the only way for kids to learn.  It hasn’t worked in the past, but certainly it will now.

YOUR TAX DOLLARS AT WORK

February 7, 2012

How does the government spend your tax dollars to educate your child?  I have blogged over and over that more money could be spent on the political and social indoctrination education of our kids if it weren’t for the multiple levels of administration.

I swear I could not make this stuff up if I wanted to.  An article from L.A. Times online revealed the truth for all to see.  “One of the largest elementary schools in the nation, Miramonte has about 1,500 students and a teaching and administrative staff of about 150”.

Given that the maximum allowable class size is 30 students per teacher, this reveals to me that the school might be somewhat admin heavy.  By dividing the 1,500 students by the maximum allowable class size requires 50 teachers.  And, given the article states there are about “150 teaching and administrative staff”, that breaks down to about 100 school overlords.

Any private enterprise that had two managers for every worker bee would either be: (a) illegal or (b) in business for about a week, or both.

It is imperative to soak the rich for more of their earned money to fund more of these highly efficient government programs.

SOTU 1-24-2012

January 25, 2012

Multiple witnesses to any event will see the same situation entirely different.  We will tend to interject our own views and perceptions to make the situation more real and accommodating to our inherent beliefs.  We will selectively see and hear what we want and what agrees with what we already know.

Pundits viewing last night’s SOTU address from the left heard the hope for change that they wanted to believe this President is capable of effecting.  Those from the right heard more lies and purposefully misleading statements causing them to believe the speech was little more than a televised campaign stump speech.

I watched the presentation and couldn’t help laughing nervously as I heard the truth, lies, and interpolated facts offered.  President Obama said that he was going to make government more efficient; shortly thereafter he noted the need for creating a new bureaucracy called the Trade Enforcement Agency.  He offered to centralize unemployment with a government run website.  He offered to consolidate federal bureaucracies with a “new unit”.  (I heard that to mean more employees for another inefficient federal bureaucracy like Homeland Security…but that’s just me).

He said in order to restore American superiority in science and technology, we may have to offer incentives to foreigners.  He made no mention of returning the current school system from the social, ecological and political indoctrination centers they have become to facilities for teaching science, math, world and U.S. geography and history.

To be sure the indoctrination has a firm hold, he suggested a bill to make all public education draftees stay under the influence of the government until they graduate or turn eighteen.  Combined with earlier proposals for mandated pre-school, that would give the government mind control over our children for the early formative years through what would normally be the development of independent thought.

Continuing on the education front, he also projected that there should be incentives to retain teachers and reward the best ones.  As a caveat he suggested the removal of the bad ones.  (With his love of strong unions, I doubt that any bad teachers will be identified.  It could happen, I suppose, if one was to teach the Constitution or express an opinion other than liberal progressive).

I also happened to notice his expression of need to rebuild the transportation infrastructure and create jobs in the construction industry.  I waited to hear him announce the billions of dollars in recent contracts for building or rebuilding bridges, but that didn’t happen.  Specifically, I am talking about those which were awarded to Chinese national companies who supply imported Chinese labor.  http://abcnews.go.com/WNT/video/us-bridges-roads-built-chinese-firms-14594513?tab=9482930?ion=1206853&playlist=14594944  Once again, this administration has taken borrowed American dollars to pay foreign workers or foreign countries for American projects at the expense of unemployed or underemployed American workers.

So, that’s what I saw and heard, what about you?

LIES AND CONTRADICTIONS

September 1, 2011

On the 8th of September 2011, President of the United States of America, Barack Hussein Obama, is scheduled to address a joint session of Congress with his plan for creating jobs for American workers.

This year will be different from last when he announced the spending of hundreds of billions of dollars to stimulate the economy with “shovel ready jobs”.  Since that speech, unemployment has dropped less than one-half of one percent according to the Department of Labor due in large to government hiring of thousands of workers.  This time will be different I’m sure!

Also during the period from 2010 to 2011, the head of the President’s Council on Jobs and Competitiveness and CEO of GE, Jeffrey Immelt, chose to move the X-ray portion of GE’s healthcare unit from Waukesha, Wisconsin to Beijing, China.  This move is only a small part of the plan for GE to invest $2 billion in China.  According to reports, GE plans to hire more than 65 engineers with complete support staff for the Chinese manufacturing base.  Apparently, the head of the President’s Council on Jobs and Competitiveness doesn’t understand that the position is to create jobs for Americans making our nation more competitive.  Then again, perhaps this is all part of the larger Obama scheme.

But wait, that’s not all.  If you act now, you will also receive NASA advanced and proprietary technology made in China by Chinese nationals under contract to GE.  Yes, you can have it all for only $19.95 plus shipping and handling because GE will be paying no (none, not any, zero) U.S. taxes on products or employment and production workers will earn less than $30 per day.

The Chinese made Virtual Reality Display System for airplane cockpits, developed through your tax contributions will now provide clear and untaxed profit for GE.

Don’t forget those fluorescent light bulbs mandated by Congress; the bulbs that require evacuation and a hazmat team to dispose of them when they break in the workplace or at home; the bulbs that are so detrimental to health and environment that OSHA and the EPA will not allow American workers on American soil to produce.  Those, too, must be made in China or other third world countries that are not concerned for worker’s health or environmental standards.  GE also makes most of those and no American taxes are collected.

Yes, the Barack Hussein Obama government and your tax dollars are subsidizing GE to take jobs off the U.S. continent.  This administration is using your tax dollars to hire Chinese workers in China to do the jobs that Americans have been doing.

Let me not just pick on one person or company now.  There’s so much more that is wrong with our current (lack of) jobs program.  The Obama Secretary of Labor, Hilda Solis, has so much respect and concern for American jobs that she recently bought a new Chevrolet Equinox for her business and pleasure jaunts about Washington, D.C.  How patriotic of her!

The only problem with that purchase is that while GM (Government Motors) professes to be an American company (controlling interest owned by the UAW and the Federal Government), the automobile purchased by Solis is made in Canada.  It is built and assembled in Canada from parts made in Canada by Canadian workers.

Again, according to reports, GM does not pay U.S. taxes on the profit because the profit does not return to the U.S. economy.  Apparently, Ms. Solis is also unaware that her position as Secretary of Labor is meant to enhance the American economy through American labor.

In summary, the Jobs Czar has taken jobs away from U. S. workers and the Secretary of Labor has purchased a major consumer item that no American labor produced.

Man, I just love the direction this country is headed!  I get a shiver up my leg (and that doesn’t happen very often) in anticipation of Sept. 8.

Postal Service proposes cutting 120,000 jobs, pulling out of health-care plan

By , Published: August 11

SEATTLE — The financially strapped U.S. Postal Service is proposing to cut its workforce by 20 percent and to withdraw from the federal health and retirement plans because it believes it could provide benefits at a lower cost.

At least one pseudo-government agency gets it!  After floundering for years they’ve realized that they can’t continue raising rates and to do a mediocre job; that imperial benefits on top of inflated wages created an over-priced service with diminished value used by fewer and fewer people.  The Postmaster General has concluded that Obamacare will do them under for sure and they simply cannot continue spending more than they take in expecting greater subsidies from the American taxpayer to cover the difference.

Because they cannot outsource their service to a third world country to remain viable, the U.S. Postal Service is forced to make some major cutbacks.   Hmmm, can you say “unions”?

Will the President and his administration get the picture, or did they create it?  Is this just another benchmark in their plan to destroy the nation?
